EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The Township will be holding a Document Shredding and Electronics Recycling Event, on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. The event will be held at the East Windsor Township Senior Center, 40 Lanning Boulevard.

Free document shredding will be available to East Windsor residents to dispose of unwanted and unneeded documents. Paper shredding is on a first come first serve basis and will be accepted from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. or until the truck is full.

Document shredding is limited to 10 boxes per household until the shredding truck is full. This event is for East Windsor residents only. Commercial entities are not permitted to participate.

“This is a great opportunity for East Windsor residents to dispose of old or confidential documents in a secure manner. Document shredding provides a non-recoverable tool for providing confidentiality and protecting against identity theft,” Mayor Janice Mironov said.

Electronics Recycling is limited to only televisions, computers and accessories, monitors, fax machines, cell phones, VCRs, cable boxes and telephones. Residents can also dispose of fluorescent bulbs and household batteries.

RISE will have trucks on-site to collect clothing, shoes, blankets, housewares (plates, mugs and related items), working appliances, household electronics and usable furniture.

Clothing should be brought in plastic bags. Residents must remain in their vehicles and have their driver’s license to display as proof of residency.

Mironov said the event will help the Township reduce solid waste costs, while helping to preserve a greener environment.

"This is an environmentally positive and convenient opportunity for residents to shred documents and recycle certain items at no cost while helping the Township reduce landfill costs and preserve the environment,” Mironov said.
